Features Overview

Convert CSV to JSON online: paste or upload a CSV/TSV file and get a JSON array instantly. Delimiters are auto-detected (comma, semicolon, tab), numbers, booleans, and empty cells get type inference (integers of 16+ digits stay strings), with header toggling, column selection, empty-cell modes, and pretty output — all in your browser.

Tool Description

Free online CSV to JSON converter. Paste or upload .csv/.tsv for instant conversion: comma/semicolon/tab auto-detection, quoted fields parsed correctly, optional type inference (all-strings mode), three empty-cell policies, 16+ digit integers kept as strings, and garbled-text detection.

Capabilities Checklist

  • Instant conversion as you paste; delimiters auto-detected (comma, semicolon, tab) with quoted fields handled per the CSV standard.
  • Type inference: numbers become numeric, true/false become booleans; integers of 16+ digits (order IDs, snowflake IDs) stay strings with no precision loss.
  • Header toggle: use the first row as keys or auto-generate column_1, column_2 field names.
  • Column selection and empty-cell policy: click to drop fields you don't need; empty cells become null, empty strings, or omitted keys.
  • Plays well with the site's JSON family: format with JSON Formatter, convert back with JSON to CSV, or jump to the Excel converters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which delimiters does this tool support?
Comma, semicolon, and tab are auto-detected (pasting from Excel/WPS defaults to tab); the detected delimiter is shown in the options area. Quoted fields (values containing delimiters or newlines) are parsed per the CSV standard.
What causes garbled characters, and what is the fix?
Garbled text almost always comes from encoding: Excel's default "Save as CSV" may write ANSI/GBK while this tool reads UTF-8. Choose "CSV UTF-8" when saving, or paste the content from an editor confirmed to be UTF-8. The tool shows a hint when the input looks non-UTF-8.
Do long numeric IDs lose precision?
No. Integers of 16 or more digits (like 9223372036854775807 or snowflake IDs) are kept as strings, avoiding JavaScript's Number precision limit (2^53); shorter numbers convert to numeric values. Leading zeros (like 007) also stay strings.
What field names are generated for headerless CSV?
Turn off "First row is header" in the options; field names are auto-generated as column_1, column_2 up to the last column, based on the widest row, so no trailing columns are dropped.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and conversion happen entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to any server, and it works offline.
